Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
We honor the work and memory of Dr. Martin Luther King every January, but his message and ideals live throughout the whole year at Tarkington. Every day in the art room, we observe our one community rule “be safe.” This means that we try to use language and actions that create a peaceful environment. This peace allows for more freedom to create and it also makes it easier to learn about and from each other.
The art room can be a scary place sometimes, where you might have to try something you never tried before. Sometimes it takes courage to think differently than others and try new things, but that kind of energy is what made Martin Luther King Jr. effective.
